z gives yellow precipitate of $\mathrm{CHI}_3$ with $\mathrm{NaOH}+\mathrm{I}_2$, solution.

z gives isopropyl alcohol on reduction with $\mathrm{H}_2$ in the presence of Pd catalyst.

z on reaction with $\mathrm{CH}_3 \mathrm{MgBr}$ followed by hydrolysis gives $2^{\circ}$ alcohols.

$z$ does not give positive test with Fehling's reagent.
